Stray Local @ Cru Wine Bar

Stray Local is the husband-and-wife songwriting duo of Hannah and Jamie Rowen based in Wilmington, North Carolina. The pair performs a bouquet of indie sounds punctuated by rich vocal harmonies, catchy guitar riffs, and well crafted melodies all woven together by their folk beginnings and new pop sensibilities.

The duo has completed three international tours performing in England, Wales, Scotland, Spain, France and Germany and have recently completed their first coast-to-coast national tour.

When the couple is not writing or performing as Stray Local they are running the roads and trails along their tour route, competing in 5ks through marathons and even obstacle course races. In 2019, they launched the Stray Local “Run Wild” campaign inspiring healthy living and an active lifestyle partnering with local run clubs throughout the country and rolling out their Run Wild activewear line.

Aaron grew up in Saluda, NC. He attended the renowned Governor’s School of North Carolina for Choral Music. Influenced by the music of Cat Stevens, the Grateful Dead, Doc Watson, Tony Rice, Norman Blake, Led Zeppelin, and David Grier, he performed extensively in Boone, NC. He owned a music store there which sold instruments and offered lessons. His life travels took him across the country where he worked as a hand on various farms and ranches. His music has grown out of those blue-collar working experiences. He has released 7 albums to critical acclaim. WNC Magazine has listed him as one of western NC’s most important musicians alongside such greats as Doc Watson, the Steep Canyon Rangers, and The Avett Brothers. He has won Our State Magazine’s Carolina Songs competition, the Hank Williams Songwriting Contest, and placed in the MerleFest Chris Austin Songwriting Contest, among others.

Mardi Gras on Middle Lane 2020

Beaufort Music Festival (BMF) is a community-supported, volunteer-run event put on by Beaufort Arts and Music, Incorporated, a 501c3 non-profit organization. For over 30 years, the free festival has taken place each May in historic Beaufort, and the town is packed on Friday and Saturday with locals and tourists alike enjoying the beautiful weather and some pretty great music.

The 11th Annual Chowder and Cheer takes place with over 20 different restaurants participating from 1pm until 5pm. Guests are asked to vote for their favorite chowder, soup, chili or gumbo as they travel to each restaurant that’s participating. In addition to the downtown restaurants competing in Chowder and Cheer, restaurants that aren’t located within the downtown district will serve samples at participating shops and art galleries.

2020 Downtown Countdown

Downtown Countdown will bring family fun to the waterfront on New Year’s Eve. Join in the fun beginning at 5pm for activities for all ages. Enjoy watching the fire department drop the kid’s crab pot drop and children’s activities from 5pm- 6pm at Big Rock Landing. Local businesses and restaurants will provide activities and bands throughout the evening, please check individual websites for schedules.
