The 2020 Growler to Growler 16 @ The Growler Bar

October 10, 2020 | 12:00 am - 1:00 pm
Emerald Isle Marathon, Half Marathon and 5K will be on October 31, but if you are looking for a “tune-up” run, we will have our The Growler to Growler 16 mile run on Saturday, October 10. The start time is up to you! Instead of having a set start time, lets try to have an end time by 1:00pm. This allows everyone to go at their own pace and not worry about being “too slow” or “too fast”. You can guesstimate your pace and that will let you know about what time you should start! Feel free to run, bike, relay, walk, whatever! We’ll meet at The Growler Bar Atlantic Beach and then run to The Growler Bar Emerald Isle. There will be water stations every 4 miles and we’ll shuttle people back to their vehicles in Atlantic Beach. Feel free to treat it as a relay, or run the whole 16 miles!
Emerald Isle Run Club is an open group for all runners, so feel free to come out! Free. Did we mention this is free? Just tip your bartenders!

Discovery Diving will be hosting its 41st Annual Underwater Treasure Hunt which helps raise money for the Diver’s Alert Network (DAN) and the Mile of Hope Children’s Cancer Event on October 10th, 2020. After numbered oyster shells have been found and collected, we then return to the dive shop for a pig pickin’ feast and the drawing for prizes. It’s all very exciting and makes for a really fun day! This event is one of the largest single day gathering of divers and like-minded people in North Carolina.

Sign ups have already begun and will continue until the day of the event, so call the shop to get on the list! Happy Hunting!

Crystal Coast Highland Games

October 31, 2020 | 9:00 am - 4:00 pm

Eastern North Carolina has had many influences that have shaped the culture that we all enjoy. Among those is immigration of people from the island and Highlands of Scotland, with many of the current inhabitants and place names being of that Scottish heritage.  The gathering of groups of families in Scotland have been an important feature of Scottish culture, in the past as well as today. With the inclusion of competitions in dance, athletics and music these gatherings became known as Highland Games. Gathering of people of all origins is encouraged at Highland games that occur in North Carolina and across North America , with millions of people attending each year.  The skirl of bagpipes and the wearing of tartan and kilts along with the excitement of tossing the caber draw people back again and again. Admission fee. For more details, find us on Facebook.
