Rodney’s Christmas Program @ History Museum of Carteret County

December 13, 2019 | 11:00 am - 1:00 pm

Presented by Rodney B. Kemp – “Santa Rodney” donned a fuzzy red hat, will immerse us in what has become for many a Carteret County Christmas tradition. Heinsists that it is, and we quote: “not brand new, but warm and fuzzy”. Laced with anecdote-filled Christmas snippets from the county’s past, Rodney promises to bring stories of “feel good” remembrances, of Christmas’s past, a lively sing-a-long, and a smattering of poetry. Rodney’s granddaughter, Emma Kemp, will once again read the original “Night before Christmas” followed closely by Rodney’s reading of Carteret County’s version. As with past Christmas Shows, he will conclude with his touching “The Christmas Child Story.” You do not want to miss it!
Lunch is served at 11:30. Program only starts 12:00 noon. Admission fee. Call 252-247-7533 ext. 1 or stop by the History Museum.

Beaufort Picture Show - The Sound of Music

December 13, 2019 | 5:00 pm - 7:30 pm

Beaufort Picture Show is a non-profit organization formed to showcase a broad range of notable films that enrich lives, engage minds, and build community. Beaufort Picture Show is the premier destination for cinema and cultural events on the Crystal Coast.

The movie for this showing will be The Sound of Music:

A tuneful, heartwarming story, Sound of Music is based on the real life story of the Von Trapp Family singers, one of the world’s best-known concert groups in the era immediately preceding World War II. Julie Andrews plays the role of Maria, the tomboyish postulant at an Austrian abbey who becomes a governess in the home of a widowed naval captain with seven children, and brings a new love of life and music into the home. The Rodgers and Hammerstein score includes “Climb Every Mountain,” “Do-Re-Mi,” and “My Favourite Things.” Plan to join in singing along to the songs in this all-time great moneymaker and winner of five Academy Awards that has been acclaimed an American classic.

32nd Annual Beaufort Music Festival

May 15, 2020 | 5:00 pm - May 16, 2020 | 11:00 pm

Beaufort Music Festival (BMF) is a community-supported, volunteer-run event put on by Beaufort Arts and Music, Incorporated, a 501c3 non-profit organization. For over 30 years, the free festival has taken place each May in historic Beaufort, and the town is packed on Friday and Saturday with locals and tourists alike enjoying the beautiful weather and some pretty great music.

This year’s festival will take place on the waterfront at Gallant’s Channel in Beaufort. There will be food trucks, vendors, beer tent and a kid’s area.

In an effort to eliminate single use plastics, the festival will not be serving drinks in plastic cups. In order to consume alcohol at the festival each patron will need to purchase a BMF Steel Pint. Please be sure to visit their website for more information.

62nd Annual Big Rock Blue Marlin Tournament

June 5, 2020 | 12:00 am - June 13, 2020 | 12:00 am

The 2020 Big Rock Tournament will take place June 5-13, 2020 in Morehead City. Among the largest and oldest sport fishing tournaments in the country, The Big Rock calls avid deep-sea fishermen to North Carolina’s Crystal Coast for a full week of angling and community celebration. Over the course of the last half-century, many boats have docked here, many tourists have gathered here, and many Morehead City natives have come and gone. Our mission has always stayed the same: to represent the sport fishing community as superbly as only Morehead City can!
