Halloween Carnival

6-8 pm. Seaport Spooks- A Scary Spectacle of Beaufort's Past

Join the Beaufort Historical Association (BHA) for the first Seaport Spooks! A Scary Spectacle of Beaufort’s Past.  This eerie event will include tours of the Old Jail, Apothecary & Doctor’s Office, the Courthouse, and the Old Burying Grounds.  There will also be carnival games, treats, and more for the whole family to enjoy!  Seaport Spooks will be on Saturday, October 25 at 4:30 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on the grounds of the Beaufort Historic Site at 130 Turner Street.  Tickets will be $10 for adults, $5 for children ages 6 to 12, and free for children under age 6.

Kindergarten Thanksgiving

9-11:30 am on November 4-7 & 11-14 on the Beaufort Historic Site. Similar to our Harvest Time, Kindergarten Thanksgiving is open for kindergarten classes. Children will visit the quaint Leffers Cottage to learn from Mr. Leffers and his family how they prepared for the winter months. Students will see open hearth cooking, butter churning, weaving and spinning and will have a lively conversation with Mr. Leffers himself! Reservations required. 252-728-5225

Mistletoe Magic Holiday Gift Show


9 am to 4 pm at the Crystal Coast Civic Center, Morehead City. This one day show has been very successful for many and attracts over 1000 people. Exhibitors come from near and far to showcase their merchandise. Categories include but not limited to floral, quilts, art, children’s items, dolls and accessories, basketry, clay items, fine art, glass and stained glass, jewelry, photography, pottery and ceramics, wearable art, scarfs, candles, wood and more.

11th Annual Emerald Isle Christmas Parade

Emerald Isle Christmas Parade sponsored by the Emerald Isle Business Association and the Town of Emerald Isle will take place on Saturday, November 29th beginning at 3pm on Hwy 58, Emerald Drive.  Important note to all entrants: There will be only ONE Santa Claus in the parade and he will be riding in a float at the end.  All other Santa’s will be sent back to the North Pole!  Also, please join us after the parade for the official Christmas Tree Lighting at Merchant’s Park!  Enjoy free refreshments, as well as a holiday caroling sing-a-long as Santa Claus visits with the children.  To enter, contact Diane Schools at 252.354.2916.

3rd Annual Holiday Arts and Crafts Fair

On the Saturday after Thanksgiving, Emerald Isle Parks and Recreation will host our 3rd Annual Holiday Arts and Crafts Fair in the Gymnasium from 8 am - 6 pm. The Fair will feature all handmade or hand-authenticated items from local artisans and crafters. This is also the weekend of our annual Christmas Parade which is the kick-off to the holiday season here in Emerald Isle. 20th Annual John Costlow Model Train Show

The twentieth annual model train show exhibit by the Carteret County Model Railroad Buffs, in cooperation with the Town of Beaufort, will be held Friday, December 5 from 4-8 pm, Saturday, December 6 from 9am-6pm and Sunday, December 7 from 11am-4pm in the Old Beaufort Train Depot on the corner of Pollock and Broad Streets.  Admission is free to the public, and children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult.

27th Annual Core Sound Decoy Festival

Location: Harkers Island Elementary School. Hours: Saturday 9am -5pm, Sunday 10am – 4pm. Admission: $8.00 daily, children under 12 free.  Sunday is Youth Day, and all children under 18 will receive free admission and door prizes! The Core Sound Decoy Festival has been a coastal tradition since 1988. Festival events include antique decoy exhibits, retriever demonstrations, children’s decoy painting, educational exhibits, duck calling competitions, head whittling contest, and a live decoy auction.  The decoy competition has many categories to suit nearly every carver, including IWCA Working Decoy, IWCA Gunning Shorebird, Canvas Decoy, Root Head, and the Duplin County Ducks Unlimited Competition (with a sizeable purchase award). There are also several youth divisions in the carving competition, and this year the Guild will be hosting the 2014 Young Guns Championship. Harkers Island Elementary School staff and volunteers dish out scrumptious food, and over 90 vendors spread their wares for shoppers who flock to the Festival. This event benefits the Core Sound Decoy Carver's Guild and Harkers Island Elementary School and is the area's largest off-season event.  Visit decoyguild.com for more information or join the Core Sound Decoy Carvers Guild on Facebook!

Swing by the History Place and select from the wares of forty-plus talented crafters whose specialties include pottery, alpaca products, shell ornaments, jewelry and gemstones, etched glass, painted gourds, sculptures, hand painted wood art, birdhouses, hand painted porcelain, beaded jewelry, baskets, wood turnings, doll clothes, aprons, carvings and much, much more. And, if that's not enough, we will have food! Our generous and talented members contribute an array of delectable homemade cakes, pies, cookies, scones, breads, Greek pastries and candies to help us raise money for the Carteret County Historical Society. Crystal Coast Countdown at the History Place

December 31st, Crystal Coast Countdown at the History Place (A New Year's Eve Celebration) Location: The History Place (1008 Arendell Street, Morehead City)

Hosted by the Carteret County Historical Society, 10:00 a.m. – 4 p.m.

Admission: By donation – various craft activities in the museum’s auditorium.

This year, the museum is participating in the Crystal Coast Countdown (CCC) – a regional New Year’s Eve extravaganza for the whole family. Crystal Coast Christmas Flotilla

5:30 pm. The Crystal Coast Christmas Flotilla features boats, yachts, oars, kayaks and commercial vessels decorated for the season.  The decorated boats can be seen at 5:30 p.m., on the Morehead City waterfront and at 6:15 p.m., on the Beaufort waterfront.  Boats may register to participate in the Flotilla by phone or mail, and until noon on Saturday, December 5, at the North Carolina Maritime Museum Store.   All decorated boats are judged and prizes for excellence and creativity are awarded at the Awards Party after the Flotilla in the Harvey W.
