23rd Annual Gloucester Mardi Gras
The Unknown Tongues cajun zydeco band will host the 23rd annual Gloucester, NC Mardi Gras at the Community Club. Preparations start the Friday night before with veggie chopping and a music jam. Mardi Gras starts about 11:00 Saturday morning with live music. Gumbo, deep fried turkey, crawfish, and delicious side dishes are ready by early afternoon, announced by a Fool's Procession. Mask and hat-making available! Costumes welcome! Unknown Tongues plays around 3:00, kicking the dance off with the children's King and Queen coronation, march, and bead toss. 24th Annual Emerald Isle St. Patrick's Festival
It’s not St. Patrick’s Day in Emerald Isle without the excitement and fun of the St. Patrick’s Festival! It’s been a shamrock holiday tradition in Emerald Isle for 23 years and is only growing better with time! This year we celebrate our 24th Annual Emerald Isle St. Patrick’s Festival which is proudly presented by Transportation Impact on Saturday, March 14th from 9am-6pm at the Emerald Plantation shopping center. Admission and parking are free for the festival. This year’s festival will feature over 75 arts and crafts vendors, food vendors, Oak Grove Stables petting zoo and rides, clowns and amusement rides, face painters, and many other fun family-oriented activities. Festival goers can also enjoy a beer garden (Age 21 and over only) and entertainment on any one of our three stages! The Little Ms. & Mr. Leprechaun Contest will take place on the main stage at 9am. The contest is for boys and girls ages 2-3 and 4-5 and requires pre-registration by 12pm on Thursday, March 12th. The Transportation Impact No. 43 Ford Fusion will be joining the 2015 Emerald Isle St. Patrick’s Festival fun! Locally-owned, Transportation Impact made its NASCAR debut at the Pocono 400 in June of 2012 and maintains an associate sponsorship with Richard Petty Motorsports. Easter Egg Hunt
Location: Emerald Isle Community Center (7500 Emerald Drive) Time: 1 pm. Easter Egg Hunt & Festivities will take place on Sunday, April 13th at Emerald Isle Parks & Recreation beginning at 12pm (noon). Join the EI Bunny at noon for festivities including sidewalk chalking, face painting, music and more. Sharply at 1pm the egg hunting whistle will be blown. Egg hunters should bring their own basket and arrive prior to 12:45. There is no fee to participate in the egg hunt. Three age categories: Ages 4 & Under • Ages 5 to 8 • Ages 9 to 12. Prizes will be awarded in each age group for the person(s) finding the EI bunny’s prize eggs. Joy the Clown will be present for fun face painting! The EI bunny himself will be on hand for photographs and to award the prizes. Everyone is invited! No registration is required.

4th of July Fireworks off Bogue Inlet Pier
The Town will again present July 4th beginning at 9 pm on Saturday, July 4th. Parking will be available at Bogue Inlet Pier as well as along NC 58. The fireworks will also be visible from Bogue Sound and the Atlantic Intracoastal Waterway.

12th Annual Emerald Isle Christmas Parade
The Emerald Isle Christmas Parade, sponsored by the Emerald Isle Business Association and the Town of Emerald Isle, will take place the Saturday after Thanksgiving at 3pm on Hwy 58, Emerald Drive. Important note to all entrants: There will be only ONE Santa Claus in the parade and he will be riding in a float at the end. All other Santa’s will be sent back to the North Pole! Crystal Coast Christmas Flotilla
5:30 pm. The Crystal Coast Christmas Flotilla features boats, yachts, oars, kayaks and commercial vessels decorated for the season. The decorated boats can be seen at 5:30 p.m., on the Morehead City waterfront and at 6:15 p.m., on the Beaufort waterfront. Boats may register to participate in the Flotilla by phone or mail, and until noon on Saturday, December 5, at the North Carolina Maritime Museum Store. All decorated boats are judged and prizes for excellence and creativity are awarded at the Awards Party after the Flotilla in the Harvey W. 27th Annual Core Sound Decoy Festival
Location: Harkers Island Elementary School. Hours: Saturday 9am -5pm, Sunday 10am – 4pm. Admission: $8.00 daily, children under 12 free. Sunday is Youth Day, and all children under 18 will receive free admission and door prizes! The Core Sound Decoy Festival has been a coastal tradition since 1988. Festival events include antique decoy exhibits, retriever demonstrations, children’s decoy painting, educational exhibits, duck calling competitions, head whittling contest, and a live decoy auction. The decoy competition has many categories to suit nearly every carver, including IWCA Working Decoy, IWCA Gunning Shorebird, Canvas Decoy, Root Head, and the Duplin County Ducks Unlimited Competition (with a sizeable purchase award). There are also several youth divisions in the carving competition, and this year the Guild will be hosting the 2014 Young Guns Championship. Harkers Island Elementary School staff and volunteers dish out scrumptious food, and over 90 vendors spread their wares for shoppers who flock to the Festival. This event benefits the Core Sound Decoy Carver's Guild and Harkers Island Elementary School and is the area's largest off-season event.
