Read and Relax: A Mother's Day Program at the Library

Kids! Bring your mom to the library on May 10th to celebrate Mother's Day.  Your mom will enjoy an hour of relaxation; you'll give her a manicure, read her a book, and make her a card.This program, which runs from 2-3 p.m., is for kids in grades K-5 and their moms. 4th of July Fireworks off Bogue Inlet Pier

The Town will again present July 4th beginning at 9 pm on Friday, July 4th.  Parking will be available at Bogue Inlet Pier as well as along NC 58.  The fireworks will also be visible from Bogue Sound and the Atlantic Intracoastal Waterway.

Beaufort July 4th Parade

A favorite old-fashioned Beaufort tradition is the Fourth of July Parade taking place along the waterfront at 11:00am. The parade begins on the corner of Gordon and Front Streets.

The parade gets better every year and includes kids, pets, wagons, flags, & music. Free ice cream provided by Holland-Shepard Group follows at the Carteret County Courthouse at Turner & Broad streets. Contact Parade Organizer Martha Barnes, 252-728-3917 or [email protected] for more information.

Morehead City July 4th Celebration

The waterfront in Downtown Morehead City comes alive on the 4th of July with live music and fireworks. The entire family will enjoy sounds of The Main Event Band as they perform from 7:00 – 10:00 p.m. at Jaycee Park on the Morehead City Waterfront. Celebrate the 4th by dancing to the music and viewing a spectacular fireworks display on the waterfront. Kindergarten Thanksgiving

9-11:30 am on November 4-7 & 11-14 on the Beaufort Historic Site. Similar to our Harvest Time, Kindergarten Thanksgiving is open for kindergarten classes. Children will visit the quaint Leffers Cottage to learn from Mr. Leffers and his family how they prepared for the winter months. 11th Annual Emerald Isle Christmas Parade

Emerald Isle Christmas Parade sponsored by the Emerald Isle Business Association and the Town of Emerald Isle will take place on Saturday, November 29th beginning at 3pm on Hwy 58, Emerald Drive.  Important note to all entrants: There will be only ONE Santa Claus in the parade and he will be riding in a float at the end.  All other Santa’s will be sent back to the North Pole!  Also, please join us after the parade for the official Christmas Tree Lighting at Merchant’s Park!  Enjoy free refreshments, as well as a holiday caroling sing-a-long as Santa Claus visits with the children.  To enter, contact Diane Schools at 252.354.2916.

3rd Annual Holiday Arts and Crafts Fair

On the Saturday after Thanksgiving, Emerald Isle Parks and Recreation will host our 3rd Annual Holiday Arts and Crafts Fair in the Gymnasium from 8 am - 6 pm. The Fair will feature all handmade or hand-authenticated items from local artisans and crafters. This is also the weekend of our annual Christmas Parade which is the kick-off to the holiday season here in Emerald Isle. Photos with Santa

2-9 pm. Emerald Isle Parks & Recreation will host a very special visitor; jolly Ol’ St. Nicholas at his “authentic beach shack”.  Professional photographer Jeff Pennell of Pennell’s Photography, Inc. will capture the smiles of your child or grandchild.  One day will be dedicated to photographs of your four legged, fur-children with the charming man in red.  The sitting fee for each of your pint-sized loved ones is just 5 cans of non-perishable food or a 5lb. bag of dog or cat food, additional donations are welcome.  Your professional photographs will be available for purchase online at www.jeffpennell.com.  The basic package starts at $29.95.  Santa Claus will be at his beach shack from 12-7 each day, but is available by appointment only.

Preregistration and a $10 non- refundable deposit is due at registration. Sitting times can be reserved by contacting Sarah McNally at Emerald Isle Parks & Recreation. Proceeds will benefit the Humane Society and Wounded Warriors. What a great time of year to give!
