Every October, the Crystal Coast lights up with excitement and activity as the North Carolina Seafood Festival hits the Morehead City Waterfront – an annual tradition that has grown in scope and support over nearly 30 years!
Streets along the Waterfront close down specifically for the event, showcasing seafood and other food vendors, craft booths, entertainment, carnival rides and special culinary activities and presentations. You’ll find accomplished local chefs, cooking competitions, educational sessions and more.
To kick off the weekend of events, every Festival begins with a special Blessing of the Fleet, paying homage to the fishermen and women of the North Carolina fishing industry. Without their hard work and sacrifice, our regional seafood heritage and economy would not exist! Fishing rigs line the marina and are celebrated and honored by all in attendance.
Plus, as a not-for-profit organization of Carteret County citizens and businesspeople, the North Carolina Seafood Festival helps raise awareness and funding for other local non-profits. Since 1987, more than $1.8 million has been dispersed among participating Carteret County non-profit groups, such as civic, church and educational organizations.
While each year brings something new and different to this Morehead City event, visitors can count on an exciting and engaging weekend, full of food, family and fun!
