May 8, 2016

The Around the Island Race is a non-stop race around the Islands that form the harbor in Beaufort.  All wooden traditionally rigged sailing craft are welcome.  Traditional Small Craft Association meeting and continental breakfast at 8 a.m.  The race committee will establish the race course to suit wind and weather conditions and announce it a skippers meeting Sunday morning at 0900 hours on the Watercraft Center docks.  A representative from each boat must attend the skippers meeting.  The start line for the race is between the dock at the Watercraft Center and a mark in Taylor’s Creek. The finish will be on the beach across from the Watercraft Center.  While participating in this race all boats will carry appropriate safety gear as required by law and the practice of safe seamanship. Chase boats will be escorting the fleet, but self-sufficiency should be the goal of each boat crew.  252.728.7317.
