As part of the Blackbeard 300th Anniversary, the North Carolina Maritime Museum will host a symposium, “New Perspectives on Blackbeard the Pirate,” to examine the growing body of knowledge on the life of Blackbeard.  Over the past ten years, historians and archeologists have studied such basic questions as who was Blackbeard and from whence came the most famous pirate of the Carolina coast?

The symposium is being held as part of the major exhibition focusing on the three hundredth anniversary of Blackbeard in North Carolina. The event is free and open to the public.

Speakers for the event include recognized authorities Kevin Duffus, Baylus Brooks, David Moore, Charles Ewen, Erik Farrell, Kimberly Kenyon, Erik Goldstein and Christopher Downey.
