The Carteret County Domestic Violence Program invites you to join us for a fun kayak/canoe race down the Newport River in your best purple attire. Participants will enjoy a scenic route through the Newport River with cascading trees and active wildlife. This is a local attraction that many people have never seen!

Single person kayaks and 2-person canoes will race in 1 mile or 5 mile divisions. Due to liability and water regulations this race is for ages 16 and up. Children under the age of 18 must have an adult present to sign liability waivers. Entry fee is $25 per person if you are bringing your own kayak and/or canoe and accompanying equipment. Entry fee for participants needing to rent equipment is $35. Boat, paddles and life jackets included. Please bring your ID!

Check in at Newport River Adventures will begin at 1:30PM followed by a Race Meeting which will include A safety tutorial and map out of the race(s). Boats will launch promptly at 3:00PM.

Participants and family are encouraged to join us for a cookout sponsored by Fat Fellas at the conclusion of the race. Plates can be purchased on site for $5.00 per plate. Please pre-register.

Registrations forms can be picked up at Caroline’s Collectibles, Newport River Adventures or accessed online. Registration deadline is Monday, September 19.

All proceeds go to the Carteret County Domestic Violence Program.
