Pirates don’t eat ice cream! Museum educator Christine Brin will be looking at clues such as artifacts associated with the infamous pirates like Blackbeard and period shipwrecks such as the British warship Mary Rose to give insight into the lives of sailors and pirates during what is commonly called “The Golden Age of Piracy” that stretched from roughly 1650 to about 1730. Specifically, this program will look at what the pirates were eating, how they were preparing and storing their food and what materials they were using to cook and consume their food.  This program will be appropriate for all visitors, including families with older children. Gam is defined as a friendly conversation between whalers or to visit with another ship while at sea.  Free Admission. No advance registration. Walk-ins welcome.
