Come join us for the 3rd annual Morehead city firefighter vs. Police officer softball game!! This year’s proceeds will be going to the family of LJ, who is a 7 year old boy from Newport who suffered a major stroke in September of 2017, he was flown from Carteret health to Vidant where he suffered a intracerebral hemorrhagic stroke. He was intubated and underwent a emergency craniotomy to relieve the swelling on his brain. For weeks, his parents at his side with a unknown prognosis due to his sedated state. He then had a drain placed to assist the hydrocephalus, later moved to inpatient therapy. This little guy spent 43 days in Vidant’s PICU and 19 days in inpatient rehab. On November 27, 2017 he was diagnosed with Alagille Syndrome, a rare genetic disorder that affects multiple organ systems which was the source of the kidney issues. Today he is home receiving speech, occupational, and physical therapy. He is constantly back and forth between specialist appointments and just started homebound school last Wednesday. This kid is a true IRON MAN! His Mom Christina Platt and Step Dad William have been at his beck and call since that day in September, Chrissy (as most of us know her) has become L.j.s primary caregiver and is doing an amazing job! During their first few months of marriage, the newlyweds took on a major obstacle that would be extremely difficult for most but have battled for Lj with nothing less than true grace and love. As a family they are true inspirations to all who know them. We hope you will all join us in taking some burdens off this amazing family while Lj progresses everyday! You can keep up with L.j.’s progression through the facebook page “Lj’s journey”.

Event will take place at Big Rock Stadium.
