October 21, 2018 | 4:00 pm-7:00 pm

The Carteret Arts Forum is having Dr. Elliot Engel for a presentation on October 21, 2018 at the Coral Bay Club. The program will be based on Andy Griffith and his role as Sheriff Andy Taylor in his eight year duration of 249 episodes as the sheriff of Mayberry, North Carolina. Most of us who are old enough remember the program that Ron Howard starred as Opie, Andy’s son. Widower Andy and Opie were living with Andy’s spinster aunt Bee played by Frances Bavier. Andy’s foil was his cousin Barney Fife played by Don Knotts and Goober Pyle played by George Lindsay. By the way, if you are not from the south, a goober is a peanut. Listen to the song by The Kingston Trio that begins “Sitting on the roadside on a summer day” on UTube. You will hear what Goober Peas are. While you are there, please listen to What is was, was football, an early monologue by Andy Griffith.

As those of you know who have been to Dr. Engel’s programs, your sides will hurt from laughing. He has such a wry perspective of the information he delivers. Plan to join us at the Coral Bay Club on Sunday October 21 at 4:00 for a cash bar and program beginning at 5:00.

Tickets are $25 and are available from carteretartsforum.com or by calling Peggy Brown at 252-764-0186 or at the door. Tickets sale will be donated to Carteret County Schools.
