2nd Beach Keepers Event on Bogue Banks

2nd Beach Keepers Event on Bogue Banks

Bogue Banks, Pine Knoll Shores, NC | (252) 247-4003

July 5, 2016 | 12:00 am-12:00 am

July 5, 2016

Spend a day on Bogue Banks as a volunteer during the Beach Keepers event on July 5. The free event is a collaborative effort between towns on Bogue Banks (Atlantic Beach, Pine Knoll Shores, Indian Beach and Emerald Isle), Fort Macon NC State Park and the NC Aquarium at Pine Knoll Shores.

The Beach Keepers event coincides with the annual post July 4 beach cleanup that has been hosted by the Aquarium and the town of Pine Knoll Shores. This year that event has been expanded and towns island-wide have gotten involved. The effort is also part of the Aquarium Volunteer Service Corps Program which brings together community members and conservation leaders in an effort to make positive changes in the community. Other opportunities to volunteer with the Aquarium Volunteer Service Corps will be available for individuals, families and groups throughout the year.

Check in for the Beach Keepers event begins at 9 a.m. at each of the five check-in locations and will last a couple of hours or until participants finish their designated clean-up sections. Clean-up supplies such as trash bags and trash grabbers will be provided by the towns in cooperation with Carteret Big Sweep, a part of the NC Cooperative Extension. Participants may bring their own work gloves.
