Each year the Morehead Elks lodge 1710, P.A.W.S., and the Military Order of the Purple Hearts host a parade to honor our military and first responders. Parade includes motorcycles, classic cars, local business’, and first responders. Parade starts at the Elks lodge, travels through Newport, Morehead City, Atlantic Beach, Emerald Isle, Cape Carteret, down Hwy 24 and back to the Elks lodge. Event raises money to send our wounded troops home for the holidays and works to raise awareness to the sacrifice of our first responders and active duty military. The Carteret County Sheriff’s dept. along with local police depts. escort to ride and block off traffic. Afterwards we return to the lodge for a great meal, live music, a silent auction, and guest speakers. Local groups like the Atlantic Beach pipes and drums perform, we have a parachute jump by the wounded warrior parachute team, and local venders. Event is open to all, kids under 12 are free. There is a bus so everyone can ride in the parade.
