Held on September 23 & 24, Beaufort Wine and Food’s Craft Beer Festival featured two days of beer-centric events, focusing on the North Carolina’s dominating craft brewing scene. Crowd favorite Beer, Bubbles and BBQ also featured craft beer and fare from around the state, with a BBQ competition capping off the event.
Here at The Crystal Coast, the town of Beaufort has a long tradition of catering to the foodie community. With the annual Beaufort Wine & Food Weekend and fall Oyster Roast, these affairs have been celebrating North Carolina’s coastal and culinary heritage for over a decade. In 2016, the celebration of food and fun extended to the burgeoning craft beer community with the inaugural Beaufort’s Brewin’ Beer Festival.
Patrons of the event enjoyed informative seminars with head brewers, the Runnin’ on Empty Road Race, as well as beer dinners at various local restaurants. From nano-breweries like Beaufort’s own Mill Whistle Brewing to well-known companies like Duck Rabbit and Oskar Blues, guests were able to sample and learn about dozens of different styles of beer.
The hallmark of craft beer and craft brewers is innovation, which could be seen with every brewery and tasted with every sip. The festival offered world-class products with local flavor. Several comments echoed the same sentiment; the event was one of the best beer festivals in the south and is only going to get better. So whether you are a hop head or have an affinity for ales, you don’t want to miss next year’s celebration of the state’s top breweries along the Crystal Coast!
