There are many public beach accesses along NC Highway 58 marked by signs with blue letters and a seagull flying in an orange circle. Several offer restroom facilities and picnic areas.

It takes approximately one hour from Morehead City to drive to the Cedar Island ferry. You need to be at the ferry 30 minutes prior to departure and reservations are recommended.

Yes, a fishing license is required and may be purchased at the Division of Marine Fisheries office (3441 Arendell Street, Morehead City, NC 28557), Wildlife Resources Commission (WRC) license agents (which include most Wal-Mart stores), EJW Sports (4667 Arendell Street, Morehead City, NC 28557) or on-line at www.wildlife.org.
