Directions
North Carolina's Crystal Coast, located on the Southern Outer Banks is easily accessible by car or air. Whether you are visiting attractions in the towns of Atlantic Beach, Beaufort or Morehead City or taking in the scenic driving tours of Emerald Isle, Cedar Point or Cape Lookout Seashore, you will enjoy the ease of transportation available by taxi, tour bus or your own rental car.


Arrival by Road to Morehead City/Atlantic Beach/Beaufort
From the northern Outer Banks, use NC 12 to the Cedar Island-Ocracoke ferry. Ferry to Cedar Island where NC 12 joins US 70 W to Morehead City/Atlantic Beach/Beaufort.
  • From the west, use I-40 to US 70 E to Morehead City/Atlantic Beach/Beaufort.
  • From north or south, use I-95 to US 70 E. At Morehead City, stay on US 70 E for Atlantic Beach or Beaufort.
  • From north or south, use US 17 to US 70 E or NC 24 East.

Arrival by Road to Emerald Isle/Cedar Point/Cape Carteret
  • From the west, use I-40 to NC 24 East via Jacksonville to Emerald Isle/Cedar Point/Cape Carteret.
  • From north or south, use I-95 to US 70 E. In Kinston take NC 58 East to Emerald Isle/Cedar Point/Cape Carteret.
  • From US 17 North turn on NC 58 East in Maysville to Emerald Isle/Cedar Point/Cape Carteret.
  • From US 17 South turn NC 24 East in Jacksonville to Emerald Isle/Cedar Point/Cape Carteret.

Airports
The Crystal Coast is served by US Airways commuter services to Coastal Carolina Regional Airport, New Bern (EWN), www.coastalregionalairport.com, 252-638-8591 and Albert Ellis Airport, Jacksonville (OAJ), www.co.onslow.nc.us/airport/, 910-324-1100. Private and chartered services are offered at Michael J. Smith Airport, Beaufort (KMRH), 252-728-2323

Ground Transportation
From Coastal Carolina Regional Airport (EWN), New Bern to all Crystal Coast destinations, taxi cab and van services are offered by Cherry Cab, (252) 447-3101. Call ahead for special requirements. One-way taxicab transportation is $50 for the car (3-4 passenger capacity) or $100 for a van (8 passenger capacity).
  • From Albert Ellis Airport, Jacksonville to Crystal Coast destinations, all local taxi services meet arrivals.
  • At Michael J. Smith Airport, Beaufort car rentals are offered by Segrave Aviation (see below).
