Arts & Crafts Coalition Holiday Show & Sale
Event Dates: Dec. 1-13, 2009
This three-week show and sale of original juried artwork by members of the Carteret County Arts and Crafts Coalition opens each year in alternating locations. Local artists combine their work to create the show for Christmas shopping opportunities and, because of the outstanding works, it is truly an event not to be missed.

Location: The former Shore Decor Business, 4024 Arendell Street, Morehead City.

Gordie McAdams Speckled Trout Surf Fishing Tourney
Event Dates: Dec. 1-5, 2009
The 7th Annual Gordie McAdams Speckled Trout Surf Fishing Tournament, sponsored by Emerald Isle Parks and Recreation and the Reel Outdoors will run from October 24 to December 5, 2009. Registration is FREE!

Pre-registration is required and the deadline is Wednesday, October 21st at 5:00pm. All trout must be caught by fishing on foot (surf, pier, inlet, sound) from Fort Macon to Emerald Isle; NO BOATS. The official Weigh-In Station is the Reel Outdoors, 7802 Emerald Drive. Once trout are weighed in and documented they will become tournament property and will not be returned to the angler.

Crystal Coast Jamboree Holiday Show
Event Dates: Dec. 1-23, 2009

You will be thrilled by this spectacular Christmas Holiday Show, as the entire Jamboree Cast & Band fills the stage with songs that celebrate this most favorite time of year! It's all the dazzle and joy that you would hope to find in a good 'ole down home, Country Christmas Show!

$25.00 Adults (Senior & Non-Senior)
$15.00 (Student 13 – 16 yrs)
$12.00 Child (12 years & under)

Photos With Santa Claus
Event Dates: Dec. 1-3, 2009
On December 1st, 2nd and 3rd, Emerald Isle Parks & Recreation will host a very special visitor; jolly Ol' St. Nicholas at his "authentic beach shack". On December 1st and 2nd professional photographer Jeff Pennell of Jeff Pennell's Photography, Inc. will capture the smiles of your child or grandchild. December 3rd will be dedicated to photographs of your four legged, fur-children with the charming man in red. The sitting fee for each of your pint-sized loved ones is just 5 cans of non-perishable food or a 5lb. bag of dog or cat food, additional donations are welcome.

Your professional photographs will be available for purchase online at www.jeffpennell.com from December 5th to December 12th. The basic package starts at $29.95. Fifty percent of the profits will benefit Carteret County Domestic Violence Program (25%) and the Carteret County Humane Society (25%). Santa Claus will be at his beach shack from 12-7 each day, but is available by appointment only. Sitting times can be reserved by contacting Laura Lee Davis at Emerald Isle Parks & Recreation. N.C. Aquarium Succulent Seafood Series
Event Dates: Dec. 1,7, 2009

Let the North Carolina Aquarium's Succulent Seafood series help you jazz up your holiday feasts with a tasty dish of local fish.
The course takes you to the area's top restaurants, where master chefs share how they craft their own favorite culinary creations with local fish, shellfish and crustaceans. In addition to cooking tips and a chance to chat with the chefs, you also learn about conservation and the life cycles of various seafood species.
The sessions begin at 2 p.m. and conclude with a taste-test. Future sessions include:
• Nov. 23 (Monday) - Crab's Claw, Atlantic Beach
• Dec. 1 (Tuesday) - Riverside Steakhouse, Swansboro
• Dec. 7 – (Monday) Crab's Claw, Atlantic Beach

Carteret Community Theatre's "Christmas Potpourri"
Event Dates: Dec. 3-13, 2009
Location: Joslyn Hall at Carteret Community College, Morehead City. Tickets are $10 for adults; $5 for children.

For information, call 726-6340. Performances are at 7:30 p.m. on December 3, 4, 5, 10, 11 & 12. A 2 p.m. matinee is on December 13.

Train Show
Event Dates: Dec. 4-6, 2009
Location: Broad and Pollock Streets, Beaufort

Trains, trains and more trains. This exhibit of trains is set up in Beaufort's old Train Depot and is for the young and young at heart. The exhibit offers a glimpse into the past with antique working model trains.

Festival of Trees
Event Dates: Dec. 4-10, 2009
Hospice of Carteret County's annual Festival of Trees will be held Friday, December 4th through Wednesday, December 10th at the Crystal Coast Civic Center in Morehead City, NC. The Festival will celebrate the beauty, tradition and music of the holiday season. It will feature beautifully decorated trees, live local entertainment, and visits with Santa. This year's theme is a Coastal Paradise. The event will be kicked off with a Christmas Concert featuring Panyelo, a steel drum band on Thursday, December 3. Tickets are $25 in advance or $30 at the door.

Lunch with Storyteller Rodney Kemp

Crystal Coast Christmas Flotilla
Event Dates: Dec. 5, 2009, Dec. 4, 2010
Location at Morehead City and Beaufort waterfronts. Yachts and workboats decorated for Christmas organize on Morehead City Waterfront where parade starts at 5:30 PM. Arrival in Beaufort is 6:15 PM.

22nd Annual Core Sound Decoy Festival
Event Dates: Dec. 5-6, 2009
The annual show and sale of waterfowl carvings of the Core Sound Decoy Carvers Guild, Harkers Island. The festival features a decoy and wildlife art auction, antique decoy exhibits, decoy carving and painting competitions, retriever demonstrations, children's decoy painting, great food and the World Champion Loon Calling contest.

Pine Knoll Shores Christmas Parade

Make Your Own Gingerbread House!
Event Date: Dec. 5, 2009
Location: Alex & Brett Bakery, 513 Arendell St., Morehead City, on Saturday, December 5. Kids of all ages are welcome with their parents.

Sessions are at 11 a.m. and 1 & 3 p.m. Covered outdoor area, so dress for the weather. The cost is $12 per house. Reservations required. Call 622-4688 for details.

Beaufort's Coastal Carolina Christmas Walk
Event Date: Dec. 12, 2009
Event Time(s): 2-4:30 pm
Tour the buildings of the Beaufort Historic Site adorned in Colonial holiday finery. Enjoy period music and learning how residents of Beaufort celebrated the holidays. A special Christmas raffle and silent auction featuring prizes from fine local businesses will be in the Beaufort Historical Association Welcome Center. Take a stroll to Ann Street Methodist Church to hear Christmas organ music, see their beautifully decorated sanctuary and learn about their "Chrismon tree".

BHA Candlelight Tour of Homes

Another way to get ready for the holidays this year is to visit beautiful homes, Inns and B & Bs in Historic Downtown Beaufort all "dressed up" for the holidays. See truly lovely decorations amid twinkling candlelight as you walk the festive streets of this quaint town. Hop aboard the BHA's English double-decker bus and sing with carolers as you travel to your destination.

AB Tree Lighting Ceremony & Christmas Party

NC Aquarium Holiday Open House & Food Drive
Event Date: Dec. 12, 2009
Event Time(s): 9:00 am - 5:00 pm
Donate a can of corn, a jar of peanut butter or another pantry staple to visit the Aquarium for free, and snag some face time with St. Nick in the bargain. One non-perishable food item per person will be accepted in lieu of admission throughout the day. Regular admission fees apply to visitors not donating food. Each year, the Aquarium collects food to help stock the shelves at Martha's Mission Cupboard of Morehead City. Santa takes requests throughout the day at various times.

200 Nativities at First Presbyterian Church

A display of over 200 Nativities will be presented in support of Project Christmas Cheer this Saturday and Sunday, December 12 and 13 from 1-5pm in the fellowship hall of First Presbyterian Church Morehead City. A good will offering or a gift of laundry detergent is requested. Take this opportunity to reflect on the real reason for the season and support Project Christmas Cheer and The Salvation Army as they strive to serve the needs of the community this Christmas season.
